Emotional Junglist is described as a cathartic, post-breakup record about the messy realities of love. The LP combines her signature syncopated jungle beats with heavier influences from 90s electronica, R&B, and indie pop.

The 15-track album includes high-profile collaborations with Jorja Smith (on the track "Get Me Down") and Sampha (on "Tender"). Nia also worked closely with acclaimed producers like James Ford (Arctic Monkeys) and Julia Michaels.
